[Repost] Stars who dedicate themselves to charity work

Michelle Yim

Volunteering history: Visits poor children in third world countries and volunteers as a hairdresser in Hong Kong hospitals

The veteran Hong Kong actress is no stranger to volunteerism – she’s been traveling to third world nations since decades ago, to give aid to the needy and sponsor underprivileged children.

She’s also a familiar face at some Hong Kong hospitals, where she would give haircuts to the elderly patients once a month. “These patients are too ill to make a trip to the hairdresser’s,” she once said. “So we do it for them on the spot. It’s a really rewarding and fun experience.”

How she made a difference: Quietly and in her own way, Michelle has made an impression on the lives she’s touched. She’s found much fulfilment in doing charity, and once said during an interview: “When I went to Africa, the children were very happy to play with balloons – they are so innocent, and it made me realise that happiness is actually very simple.”
